Mirena contains progestin and lasts for five years. Since progesterone, people who use Mirena, tend to get more light, irregular periods, but many women are not the full periods.

Paraguard no hormones and lasts at least ten years. The main side effect is hard times. In the long run one of the cheapest methods of contraception is available.

Both types of spirals are very effective - more effective than the pill or tubal ligation.

I Paragard for several reasons. I can not hormones. My body reacts very negatively to them.
This goes back to what you want. The Mirena contains hormones. The most common side effect of periods of instability and weight gain. Many women suffer from depression, mood swings, low libido. Sometimes the Mirena stop the run. Something that I like. That does not bother me to have a period once a month, because it lets me know that I am not pregnant. During the downtime, the paranoia that I might be pregnant, because women have become pregnant with a spiral effect and not know it are inclined to, because they believe the time is missing, only the effect of the Mirena
With Paragard I bleed heavily for the first cycles. Not much cramping. Now my time is in 4 days are normal and have nothing to complain about so far.
I have a lot of research before reaching my decision. You should do the same.
Good luck ~

I have the Mirena coil 4 months ago. My doctor recommended that Paragard. I have no problems with it. Irregular bleeding, but I was told it will soon disappear.
